What is cheque back / cash back redemption
Most third party mobile websites offer money back via redemption where a customer has to regularly send paper bills by recorded post to the mobile retailer. Over the contract period you would send off typically between 4 and 12 bills and receive cheques in the post within typically 28 days. The clause comes when you miss a payment deadline. The policy wording of some retailers can be vague and therefore attention needs to be paid to the details. Cheque back typically pays a smaller amount at first then increments (i.e £175 over 12 months, you might receive 3 payments £25 in 3 months, £50 in 6 months, £100 in 9 months) Cheque back involves a certain amount of risk and isn’t guaranteed for example if the company go into administration your very unlikely to receive a penny. These deals can seem enticing and can reduce the overall cost of a pay monthly phone significantly.
Automatic cashback
Auto cash back is different to cheque back by redemption in that there is no need to post bills to the company and you usually receive a cheque within 2 months of having your contract. The same risk applys where a company goes bust though. This option can reduce your mobile phone bill also
